In order to use movable chords or scale patterns on the guitar, we will have to memorize the note letter names of each fret. The previous lesson featured a partial fretboard chart describing only the fifth and sixth strings, so for this lesson we will take a look at a more comprehensive chart showing every note. The following chart shows every natural note within the first twelve frets of the guitar neck. Natural notes are simply notes that are not sharp or flat.

This chart above leaves out some notes; these notes are the sharp and flat notes. There is a sharp and flat letter name for every one, for example: C# is the same note as Db, and D# is the same note as Eb, etc. Below are two separate fretboard charts showing both the flat and sharp notes within the first twelve frets of the guitar neck.
