Introducing Finger-Picking

Once you have learned the single-note melody from our previous lesson, we can develop it further by adding some harmony. Harmony occurs whenever you’re playing more than one note at once, also known as a chord. Now we will be adding bass notes, or low notes, to some of our melody notes to make the sound thicker. This will produce a full sound resembling a band, orchestra, or piano.

Notice that most of the harmonies in this piece resemble chords we have learned previously, such as A minor, C and G.
